Le jardin n’est pas encore endormi. Bien sûr il y a encore les floraisons des chrysanthèmes, des sauges et de certains asters, mais ce qui me frappe ce sont des plantes vivaces qui fleurissent depuis des mois. Toutes celles que je présente ici sont encore en fleurs, sont bien adaptées à ma terre sèche et calcaire et n’ont pas été arrosées pendant l’été. The garden’s still alive and kicking. Chrysanthemums, sages and certain asters are still going strong but what really strikes me at the moment are the perennials that have been in flower for months. The following are still in bloom, are perfectly happy in our dry chalky soil and haven’t not once been watered over the summer.
Les scabieuses sont encore là et n’ont aucune intention de se coucher. The scabious are still out in force and look as if they’re planning to stay for a while!
Pareil pour le gaura. Le blanc devient plus timide qu’en plein été mais le rouge a encore une très belle présence. Likewise for the gaura. The white is not as bold as in the height of the summer but the red is producing new flowers like nobody’s business.
L’alcathea Parkrondell est aussi fleuri qu’en début d’été. The alcathea Parkrondell hasn’t stopped flowering since the beginning of the summer.
Sa soeur l’alcathea ParkAllee se montre néanmoins moins généreuse avec l’arrivée de l’automne. Une fleur à la fois semble être la règle ce 22 novembre alors pour compenser cette absence de profusion je vous la montre de devant et de derrière! However with the onset of autumn its sister, the alcathea ParkAllee, has for some reason started producing fewer flowers, just one at a time, so to make up for the lack of numbers here are two photos, one from the front and one from the back.
Comme les autres le thulbaghia continue sa floraison depuis le mois de juin. Not to be left out the thulbaghia has been in bloom since June.
Bon, pour le suivant j’avoue que je triche. Le schizostylis est en pot et a bien profité des arrosages estivaux. Il fleurit depuis moins longtemps, quelques semaines seulement mais sa belle floraison tardive est bien appréciable. I have to admit to cheating for the next one, the schizostylis which is in a conatiner and has been watered over the summer. It’s been in flower for a while now and I couldn’t resist including it in this article.

Si vous avez un sol sec et calcaire je recommande vivement les scabieuses, le gaura, l’alcathea et le thulbaghia si vous voulez avoir des fleurs pendant trèèèès longtemps! So folks if your soil is dry and chalky I highly recommend gaura, alcathea, scabious and thulbaghia if like me you want to have flowers for a long long time.
