Déjà la fin d’avril ! Ce mois est passé à une vitesse incroyable! Already the end of April which has sped by amazingly fast!
En début de mois l’euphorbe de Corse (Euphorbia Myrsinites) illuminait toute la rocaille avec ses fleurs de couleur acidulée. L’aubriète qui l’entoure commençait seulement sa floraison. In the rockery at the beginning of the month the aubretia were just starting to bloom and the stars were definitely the Euphorbia Mysinites with their bright chartreuse-yellow flowers.
Plus loin dans le massif Sans Soucis la spirée arguta était en pleine floraison. Much further down the garden the spirea arguta stood out in the Sans Soucis border.
Ca c’était le début du mois. Après nous sommes partis faire un séjour en Angleterre et au retour nous avons trouvé beaucoup de changements. Les deux pommiers étaient en pleine floraison et formaient un beau contraste avec le pourpre du prunus. That was at the start of the month. We then left to visit family in England and on our return so much had changed in the garden. The blossom of the apple trees contrasted nicely with the dark purple of the prunus.
Dans le massif du serpentin le cerinthe major montrait fièrement ces couleurs métalliques. Il se ressème beaucoup dans notre jardin. The serpentine border was full of cerinthe major plants and their striking metallic -blue flowers. An enthusiastic self-seeder.
A côté de la terrasse cette jolie scène montre la spirée Magic Carpet avec des campanules pas encore fleuries à ses pieds et l’euphorbe Martinii juste derrière. Next to the patio the spirea Magic Carpet seems to be comfortably pillowed between the yet-to-flower campanula below and the euphorbia martinii above.
Ma tulipe préférée est une inconnue mais pour moi c’est la « tulipe transparente ». Ici on la voit en compagnie du rosier Buff Beauty avant sa floraison. I try to be fair and not have favourites but I find absolutely irresistible this pink « transparent tulip » whose real name I don’t know. Here the foliage of the rose Buff Beauty seems to find them irresistible too.

La très florifère choisya White Dazzler est énorme cette année. Le parfum de ses fleurs est superbe et ce ne sont pas les abeilles de Happy Api qui me contrediraient. The choisya White Dazzler is being so generous with its flowers this year and has really shot up in size. Its scent is extremely powerful and is loved by Happy Api’s bees.
Pour finir je vous montre une scène dorée et blanche sous le vieux pommier. Le milium effusum aureum et la monnaie-du-pape blanc (lunaria alba) avec au loin les ancolies qui commencent leur floraison. Finally a little shot taken under the old apple tree of the golden milium effusum aureum and white honesty with pink aquilegia beginning to bloom further back.
Je vous souhaite beaucoup de bonheur pour la Fête du Muguet. I wish you all a happy May Day tomorrow. Here in France it is celebrated by giving a sprig of lilly of the valley to friends and family.
