Les saints de glace sont arrivés et il fait une chaleur incroyable. Malgré la sécheresse le jardin se porte bien. Despite the excessive heat for the season and weeks without rain the garden isn’t doing too badly.

Le marronnier en fleurs, adoré par les abeilles. The horsechestnut tree in flower making lots of bees happy.
Pour prendre une photo du massif des abeilles j’aime bien me tenir sous le marronnier. I love to take photos of the bee border while standing under the horsechestnut tree.
En mai les ancolies dansent un peu partout dans le jardin. In May the aquilegia dance from one flower bed to another, such a lively show.
Tout comme les alliums……. as do the alliums….
Les hesperis matronalis aussi. The hesperis matronalis likewise.
Le bleu est très présent au jardin avec le nepeta mussinii, there’s a lot of blue in the garden with the nepeta mussinii,
le géranium Sabani Blue, le premier géranium à fleurir the first geranium to flower, the Sabani Blue
et le lin perenne and the linum perenne.
Le vert acidulé est représenté ici par la spirée Gold Mound, there’s also a fair amount of chartreuse green which can be seen in the spirea Gold Mound,
par l’euphorbe Humpty Dumpty the euphorbia Humpty Dumpty
et par l’euonymus alata qui plus tard marquera l’automne avec son feuillage cramoisi. and in the euonymus alata whose leaves will turn a bright crimson colour in the autumn.
Le blanc aussi est bien représenté par le cistus purpurea Alan Fradd, If you’re looking for white there’s the cistus purpurea Alan Fradd
et les ornigothales, arrivées spontanément au jardin pour mon plus grand plaisir. and the ornigothalum which just turned up one day in the garden much to my delight.
Je termine par un petit dernier qui a longtemps peiné au jardin. J’avais compris que c’était parce qu’il n’aimait pas le sol sec, mais cette année après plusieurs semaines sans pluie il paraît beaucoup plus heureux que d’habitude. J’aimerais bien vos avis. Le geum s’épanouit-il dans un sol sec ou un sol frais ? Finally look at this pretty geum which has been struggling for years in the garden. I always understood that it was because of an intolerance of dry soil but this year after many weeks without rain it’s positively thriving. So what is your experience of the geum ? Does it grow better in dry soil or moist ?
